About Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica was a space opera about the destruction of the Twelve Colonies of humanity at the hands of sentient androids known as Cylons.

BSG first aired for brief runs in 1978 and 1980, both times canceled without garnering a large following.

The 2003 reboot however met with tremendous critical acclaim. Its enormously controversial ending notwithstanding, the 2003 reboot is almost universally praised by critics as among the finest television series in the space opera genre to date and is widely credited with having kicked off in earnest the third generation of space opera television.

The reboot franchise is spread across two television series: Battlestar Galactica (2003-2009), Caprica (2009-2010), and a standalone film Blood & Chrome (2012). Each of these is set in a different time period in the show's chronology, with Caprica being the earliest, followed by Blood & Chrome, then the main Battlestar Galactica series.

For best viewing, watching Battlestar Galactica in chronological order rather than air date order is strongly recommended.
